Owner Of Stolen ATV Discovers It For Sale On Facebook
An ATV reported stolen back in January was recovered at a residence outside Pacific on March 11 after the owner saw it posted on Facebook Marketplace.
Austin David Carver, 18, Pacific, was arrested and as of Friday, charges are pending for second-degree burglary and stealing a motor vehicle.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies investigated a lead on a stolen 2000 Polaris Arctic Cat that was reported stolen January 23 from a garage in the 3800 block of Ronnie Lane outside Pacific. The owner contacted the sheriff’s office when he discovered a post on Facebook Marketplace advertising the sale of the ATV.
Deputies went to the 3900 block of Highway NN and located the ATV. A male resident admitted to deputies he traded a pistol for the ATV to a subject who lived nearby. Deputies found evidence of the transaction during the investigation.
During questioning, Carver allegedly admitted to stealing the ATV and trading it for the handgun. He was placed under arrest and his bond has been set at $10,000.
