Our Story Coffee House Expands With New Addition

Our Story Coffee House, 454 North Church Street, is constructing a 1,500 square foot addition to its existing facility after more than three years in business at the current location. The company began operations online in 2014 before opening at 454 North Church Street in October 2015.

“Business is growing and we’ve done really well this far,” said Crystal Ray, owner. “The expansion is something we desperately needed to do as we operate in a 100-year-old house and needed to expand for more room.”

Ray stated that the expanded area will allow for up to 50 guests to be seated at a time. Along with the increased seating, they will also expand the kitchen and be able to handle larger order that includes an expanded catering operation.

According to Ray, the expansion has been done by all local contractors wherever possible and with the growing food business they are hoping to use the new addition to also host more events as they currently do that include Community Art Bus.

The food business has allowed Ray to hire Cyndi Chepely to serve as general manager, who comes with years of restaurant experience and also have Bri Walker, a culinary school graduate who has worked hard on the cafe side of the business as well.

The current facility will still house the front retail counter, but will serve as the central retail location for the its many products that include home decor and unique gift items that you just can’t find everywhere.

“Many of our gift items are made locally. These include signs, soaps and lotions,” said Ray. “We are also very active in helping local charities sell their products from Life House Youth Center to Team Kaden and Grace City Church.”

Ray is hoping to see the expansion completed by the end of April, but delays could push the project completion into May.

The business is open Monday and Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday through Friday 6:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The kitchen is open every morning until 2 p.m. during the week and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
