One Seriously Injured In Tractor Trailer Pileup

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said five tractor trailers were involved in an accident Saturday that shut down Interstate 44 in both directions at the 224 mile marker.

One tractor trailer wrapped around a bridge column at the Elmont overpass, seriously injuring the driver.

According to the report, a 2018 Volvo Model 860 driven by Jaswinder S. Singh, 39, Phoenix, Az., crossed the median traveling westbound. The vehicle came to a rest in the eastbound lanes.

A 2017 Peterbilt Conventional driven by Michael E. Rex, 65, Forland, Mo., swerved to avoid Singh’s vehicle. He crossed the median and came to a rest facing east in the westbound lanes.

A 2013 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Jolene E. Greise, 54, Cozad, Neb., swerved into the left lane to avoid striking Singh’s towed unit. She swerved to the left again, crossed the median and overturned, striking a bridge column on the Elmont overpass.

A 2018 Freightliner Conventional driven by Amolakdeep S. Bhullar, 31, Bakersfield, Calif., was traveling westbound and swerved to avoid striking Greise’s towed unit. Bhullar struck the unit with the corner of his truck.

Greise was taken to Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital for treatment. Her vehicle received total damage.

Singh’s and Bhullar’s vehicles had moderate damage and were towed from the scene. Rex’s vehicle had minor damage and he drove from the scene.

A 2016 Freightliner Conventional driven by Aaron M. Stoltzfus, 27, Simpsonville, S.C., was westbound in the right lane was listed in the report. Stoltzfus had just minor damage and drove from the scene.
