One Matter Before Council Tuesday Night

The Sullivan City Council was scheduled to meet Tuesday, June 2, with only one matter before them under Requests and Petitions from the Sullivan Chamber of Commerce. The council will once again meet with social distancing in place for their meeting.

The Sullivan Chamber of Commerce is partnering with MAAG to host its annual Craft Fair on September 12. The group is requesting use of the Sullivan Skating Rink Annex parking lot, pavilion/food stands on Thurmond Memorial Drive and request closure of this street from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Chamber also stated, in a formal letter from Director Shawna Speaks, that they would ensure the Sullivan Electric Department had access to enter and exit in case of an emergency during their event times.

The council is also expected to discuss the announcement by Missouri Governor Mike Parson to continue with Phase One of the COVID-19 plan along with the State of Emergency through June 15. The city has not decided when or if the Sullivan Swimming Pool Complex, parks and Splash Park will open after June 15.

Parks department staff has worked to bring these facilities in line for a possible opening should the council establish and opening date and requirements.

The council did have closed session posted for real estate, litigation and personnel.
