MSHP Reports Two Drownings
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported two drownings last week -- one in Shannon County that claimed the life of an Illinois teen and another in the Gasconade River in Pulaski County that resulted in the death of a St. Robert man.
The highway patrol said on June 13, Justin D. Persons, 13, Montgomery, Ill., was in a canoe that capsized and lodged him under a fallen tree in the Jacks Fork River, around 3:15 p.m.
Persons was pronounced dead at 4:35 p.m. by Shannon County Coroner Tim Denton.
On June 16, the highway patrol said Mark Joseph S. Concepcion, 35, St. Robert was attempting to swim across the Gasconade River near the Riddle Bridge. Concepcion was submerged and did not resurface. His body was recovered roughly two hours later and pronounced dead at the scene by Pulaski County Assistant Coroner Christopher Hendrix.
