Missing Woman Recovered Along Meramec River

Although additional information is hard to come by at press time, Sullivan firefighters were called in to rescue a female trapped on a bluff/embankment Saturday, July 6.

The Sullivan Fire District Water Rescue team was called to 352 Arapaho Drive at 11:15 a.m. for a report that a female, allegedly missing since July 4, was located on a bluff/steep embankment two miles up river from the Arapaho Campground.

Firefighters responded, assisting Washington and Franklin County Sheriff’s Departments and recovered the victim at 11:43 a.m. Firefighters transported the woman by boat to Washington County Ambulance personnel, who transported the victim to Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan. She reportedly had minor to moderate injuries, which were reportedly cuts to her feet. 

The woman had become lost in the area for reasons not released.

The incident remains under investigation by county law enforcement at press time.
