Meramec Community Fair Cyber Monday Planned As Organization Moves Into 33rd Year

The 33rd annual Meramec Community Fair is scheduled for June 18-22, 2019 with the early birds ready to go with the annual “Cyber Monday” ticket sales. Season passes will be $20.

Following the Cyber Monday sale tickets, will be $25 through the end of the year followed by $30 from January 1 through April 30 and then $35 through the fair.

“This year’s fair theme was announced Friday, as Barnyard Mardi Gras, following a meeting of the MCF Board of Directors,” said James Bartle, MCF President. “We are busy planning this year’s fair and working to see what we can do to reignite interest in the biggest community event of the year held in our community.

Bartle, following a year’s absence from the board, has returned to serve as board president and entertainment chairman for 2019.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us this year that brings so many challenges,” said Bartle. “Previous fair boards all try to bring the best fair they can to the community within practical budgets which bring a ton of challenges. We are trying to sort out through the previous 32 years with what worked and what didn’t work for the fair.”

Bartle is joined this year by Aron Hulsey, who will serve as vice president and contemporary christian music chair; Diane Ward, secretary; Diane Charleson and Valerie Ertle, treasurers.

“We have several new board members that have joined us this year that are bringing a lot of energy and excitement to the board which we need,” said Bartle. “We are very early in the planning stages to determine all of our event and entertainment but we hope to be moving forward with this in the coming weeks.”

Bartle reported that one change that has been approved by the board for 2019 is that the Contemporary Christian Night will be moved from Tuesday night, as a free event, to Thursday night following the Queen Scholarship program on the Main Stage.

“Vice President Aron Hulsey expressed some strong points with moving this event from Tuesday night to Thursday that will keep the main stage area busy on Thursday night following the aueen program,” said Bartle. “In years past, following the queen program, this area would have limited attendance in this area of the fair grounds and we are hoping this could change that. We expect to have more announcements coming in the weeks ahead.”

Bartle expressed how important it is to the fair for the community to get behind it to preserve it for future generations to come.

“There has always been strong community support at the roots of the MCF but we really ask that the community and surrounding area get behind the fair for generations to come,” said Bartle. “No one wants to see the fair dwindle down to nothing or see attendance continue to drop. This is the Meramec Community Fair and to me that’s all communities along the Meramec River. We are not a county fair that can draw from everyone within that particular county, but we are the Meramec Community Fair and can draw from multiple counties. We just need to get people there.”
