Man Tases Estranged Wife, Flees Deputies

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said a Union man tased his estranged wife in the stomach, pointed a gun at her and stole her phone, then fled her home and authorities.

Tyler Bailey, 32, has been charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

His bond was set at $75,000.

Franklin County Sheriff Steven Pelton said the female victim reported that Bailey showed up at her house on August 11 and threatened to take their children.

The victim told Bailey to leave or else would call 911. Bailey left the scene, but allegedly returned 30 minutes later.

After Bailey was told to leave a second time, he pulled out a taser and discharged it into the victim’s stomach.

The victim fought back, but Bailey allegedly removed a pistol from his side and pointed it at her. He also stole her phone so she could not contact authorities.

Bailey allegedly fled the residence and a sheriff’s deputy located his vehicle on Highway 100. The deputy attempted to stop Bailey, but he failed to yield.

Witnesses reported seeing Bailey crash near the intersection of Highway 100 and Highway V. Deputies responded and were unable to find him.

Bailey was later found in his vehicle on Highway V where he was taken into custody without further incident.

A taser and handgun were recovered at the scene.
