Man Caught On Surveillance Breaking Into Home

A Union man was caught on surveillance breaking into a Villa Ridge home and exiting with a safe that contained money and personal documents.

Tyler Sims, 22, has been charged with second-degree burglary. 

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of Tasha Loop in Villa Ridge on Sept. 17 for a reported burglary.

Video surveillance captured a man wearing shorts and a t-shirt walk into the residence and exit carrying a safe.

Two days later, deputies tracked the suspect to the 700 block of Wildwood Valley Lance in St. Clair where he was located and taken into custody.

Sims allegedly confessed to his involvement in the burglary. Sims is being held on a $10,000 bond.
