Man Assaults Walmart Associate While Attempting To Flee With Stolen Items

A Leasburg man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly struck a Walmart associate in the head while trying to flee with stolen items.

Jasen Thompson, 48, has been charged with second-degree robbery. Bond was set at $50,000.

According to police, Thompson filled a shopping cart with various items and went to the rear of the store. He then removed the items and struck the associate.

He left the building on foot.

Police later located Thompson in a wooded area near Walmart. After a brief foot pursuit, he was apprehended and taken to jail.

The Walmart associate was treated at the scene but did not seek further medical attention.
