Local Use Tax Appears To Be Ballot Issue
It appears the Sullivan City Council will ask voters to approve a local use tax on the April 3, 2018 ballot as the city attempts to recover lost sales tax revenue from out-of-state online ordering and also keep local business competitive with those without a vested interest in the community.
The Sullivan City Council met in open session on Tuesday, December 5, with a light agenda that included discussions on the proposed use tax.
Sullivan City Administrator J.T. Hardy addressed the council providing them with a review of what a local use tax actually is and a simple explanation of how it works.
