Local MMA Fighter Makes Fourth Television Fight Appearance Friday Night

Dakota “Hairy” Bush, a former standout wrestler at St. Clair High School and Lindenwood College, has made a name for himself as a pro Mixed Martial Arts fighter (MMA) and will make his fourth straight television broadcast fight this Friday night, February 15 at LFA 60 from Des Moines, Iowa.

The fight will be broadcast on AXS television. See your local television provider for channel details.

Bush went 6-0 as an amateur fighter fighting out of Smith Pit MMA, Cuba, Mo., where he trained with fellow Smith Pit MMA and current UFC Fighter Jake Collier.

Bush spent most of his amateur fights in Cage Champions held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall events held in Sullivan where he went 6-0 before turning pro with a pro record now of 5-1.

In the lightweight class, Bush will take on Jordin Henman, 7-4 pro career both weighing in the 155 pound class.

Bush, according to Tapology, is currently ranked 34th out of 393 pro lightweight fighters in the midwest and 132 out of 1501 pro lightweights in the United States and moving up the rankings as his career grows.

His five pro wins come by one technical knockout, two submission holds and two full bout decisions.

According to trainer Patrick Smith, Smith Pit MMA, Bush will be fighting Jordin Henman, a tall lightweight fighter with a long reach with a wrestling and jujitsu background.

“Henman is an all around tough guy, we really want to display Dakota’s standup in this fight,” said Smith. “Key to the fight is closing the distance and applying pressure and putting combos together.”

Smith stated that Bush is looking to get a win and has his eyes on the LFA belt to join teammate Jake Collier, who won the LFA belt and moved on to UFC.

Bush graduated from St. Clair in 2012 after a stellar wrestling career. He won the district title in his weight class that year and qualified for the state tournament twice.
