Local Manufacturer Helping Produce Critical Face Shields For Frontline Workers

A local manufacturer, along with its sister company, has stepped up to help medical personnel on the front lines in the battle against COVID-19, to produce currently 3,000 face shields with plans to manufacture more moving forward.

SLP Lighting, 1005 North Service Rd. West and Koller Craft, LLC, 1400 South Old Highway 141, Fenton, began producing the face shields last week after noticing a need for the vital health items.

According to David Koller, owner, the companies manufacture lighting and deal with plastic sheets and determined through another local manufacturer that there was an emergency need for these face shields.

“We determined there was an emergency needs for these shields. We were able to get some plastic sheets and at our Sullivan location, we can laser cut the plastic sheets and ship them to our Fenton location, where we can assemble them. Then we can get them our to our frontline workers who vitally need them,” said Koller. “We are looking to buy more sheets as they become available and be able to produce more shields as they are needed by our local emergency workers.”

The company started producing the first 3,000 face shields this past week, with plans to distribute them to health care workers and frontline workers immediately.

Koller stated that the plants and company are very honored to be able to help those in harm’s way.

“The employees in our plants are very happy to help those on the frontlines and we all continue to worry about things and want to do our part to help take some of that worry away,” concluded Koller.
