HSMO Rescues 17 Dogs From Oregon County Breeder —Breeder Charged With Animal Cruelty
The Humane Society of Missouri rescued 17 dogs from an unlicensed breeder in Oregon County last week.
Located near the Missouri-Arkansas border, the rescue mission was a year in the making.
The dogs are mostly medium to large breeds of Australian Shepherds and Australian Terriers.
According to HSMO, the breeder was first brought to the attention of the Animal Cruelty Task Force.
The breeder — identified as Marlisa McAlmond — has been charged with animal cruelty and was found to be in criminal contempt of a court order.
McAlmond was found in indirect criminal contempt for euthanizing 21 healthy dogs and not holding a breeder license.
