Home Saved By Family And Firefighters Sunday Morning

A serious house fire was avoided early Sunday morning, March 18, due to actions of the homeowner and Sullivan Firefighters after the fire broke out in the attic of a home located at 620 North and South Road owned by Joe Bell.

Firefighters were dispatched at 2:44 a.m. and arrived at the residence at 2:55 a.m. According to Captain Nolan Crawford, no flames were visible when firefighters arrived.

“Light smoke was coming from the ridge caps of the roof when we arrived,” said Captain Crawford. “The home owner was in the attic with a garden hose, extinguishing the fire. Fire crews determined that the fire was located under blown in insulation in the attic.”
