Fireworks Celebration On Thursday Night
The City of Sullivan will host its annual Celebrate America 2019 Independence Day Fireworks display on Thursday, July 4, with fireworks display set for around 9-9:15 p.m.
This year’s fireworks display is sponsored by the City of Sullivan, First State Community Bank and Laura Automotive Group.
Each year, the City of Sullivan contributes $5,000 to the $10,000 display that is launched every Independence Day. The remaining funds are covered by local businesses that are listed above as sponsors.
Sullivan City Administrator J.T. Hardy encouraged residents to come out and enjoy the fairgrounds area prior and during the fireworks as in years past.
It is against city ordinance for fireworks to be discharged by residents and patrons on the fairgrounds.
This type of activity not only endangers the public and property at the fairgrounds, but with the large amount of displays located for the Independence Day Celebration also on the grounds it could provide for a very dangerous situation.
Hardy encouraged residents to thank the sponsors who help the city make this event possible each year.
