Fire Set To Park Restroom
Sullivan Police detained two juveniles May 21 after they are alleged to have set fire to a park restroom.
Sullivan firefighters were called to "Sunny" Jim Bottomley Park at 701 West Springfield Road at 4:14 p.m. for a reported fire at the baseball field restrooms.
Firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire and then provided ventilation to the facility.
Sullivan Parks Director Dave Wall reported that the restroom sustained damages well over $1,000.
“The toilets in the building were shattered, tissue paper dispensers were destroyed and there was smoke and heat damage throughout the restroom,” said Wall. “There was also damage to the lights and ceiling.”
