Fire Board Places Chief On Indefinite Suspension
The Bourbon Fire Protection District's Board of Directors announced Wednesday that it has placed Chief Daniel Whatley on indefinite suspension.
The suspension is pending further investigation into assault and resisting arrest charges against Whatley stemming from a confrontation with law enforcement on Friday, Oct. 9. Whatley informed the Independent News on Monday that he was placing himself on administrative leave and said he expected to be exonerated.
Fire board members met in executive session on Monday.
"The Bourbon Fire Protection District remains a fully functioning, cohesive department," the board said in a press release. "Public Safety remains well protected as we continue to work diligently with all other Public Safety organizations."
