Du Kum Inn To Help Lifehouse Youth Center Through Entree Donations

Du Kum Inn Restarant, 101 Grande Dr., announced recently that they are providing a donation program to help the Sullivan Lifehouse Youth Center, 11 North Clark St., which provides many programs for more than 40 area youth on a daily basis.

Grant and Becky Medlin, Du Kum Inn, discussed helping the Lifehouse Youth Center for sometime, trying to figure out what they could do and how.

According to Becky, Grant stated to her that he kept feeling that they needed to do something to help Lifehouse. They got a feeling to donate to Lifehouse through a per meal basis.

“We called Jennifer Fadler at Lifehouse and told her what we had talked about and asked what she thought and she was behind it,” said Becky Medlin. “So we started this program in February and will continue on with it. We will donate .75 for every $9.99 lunch/dinner entree and .50 for every $6.99 breakfast entree.”

Medlin stated that as business continues to pick up and the fact that they are locally owned and operated they are looking forward to helping Lifehouse Youth Center for the next year through the program.

According to Jennifer Fadler, Executive Director of Lifehouse Youth Center, “this is a big deal for us and helps us keep the center open and knowing that we will have some donation coming in each month. This also lets us know that the community sees how important these kids are to us and they get behind us. It also shows us that God has sent the Medlins to us and he keeps showing us his helpful hands and that he has got us.”

Medlin stated, “this is a little scary for us and stepping out with this type of food donation program but God has told us to do it.”

Lifehouse Youth Center currently serves more than 40 children each week at the center and at times have had up to 109.

The center is looking to purchase a bus or van to be able to transport students to different activities they would like to go to, including trips to the Science Center, bowling and other activities.

People are encouraged to help participate in the monthly commitment by Du Kum Inn to Lifehouse Youth Center and donations can also be made directly to the center and volunteers are still needed everyday at the center.
