Driver Loses Control, Collides With Oncoming Vehicle ON Highway 185

A driver lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road, then returned and struck an oncoming vehicle Monday afternoon on Highway 185, north of Highway K.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck had moderate injuries.

Laura Witcher, 48, Potosi, was taken to Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital.

She was not wearing a seat belt.

William Dunn, 39, HIllsboro, had minor injuries. Dunn also failed to wear a seat belt.

The highway patrol said the crash occurred at 2:50 p.m.

Dunn was driving a 2004 Ford F-250 with a trailer.

The highway patrol said he was inattentive and went off the roadway. He struck a mailbox and over-corrected.

Dunn returned to the roadway, crossed the center line and the front passenger side struck a 2006 Dodge Durango, driven by Witcher.

Witcher’s vehicle went off the right side of the road and the front undercarriage struck an embankment.

Both vehicles had total damage.
