County Employee Sentencing Scheduled For Sept. 26

A former Franklin County Highway Department Supervisor and former County Commissioner candidate has pleaded guilty to one count fraudulent use of a credit device in Franklin County Court, Aug. 29.

Jefferey E. Thurmond, Sullivan, appeared before Judge Gael Wood, entering a guilty plea to the one felony count with two counts of forgery being dropped following the one guilty plea.

Thurmond is believed to have used a county credit card to make purchase of around $13,000 from 2013-2016 stating that they were for county highway projects, but in fact were for personal use, following an audit and investigation by the Missouri Highway Patrol in late 2016.

Thurmond is scheduled to appear before Judge Gael Wood on September 26, at 1:30 p.m. for formal sentencing with 120 days of incarceration in the Missouri Department of Corrections expected along with four years probation.
