Council Will Not Continue With MRPC

The Sullivan City council held two meetings Aug. 7 that included its regular session followed by a budget meeting for the proposed Fiscal Year 2019 budget, in which the city has opted to not renew membership with the Meramec Regional Planning Commission.

Sullivan will remain with East West Gateway.

The city had belonged to both organizations and was the second largest municipality in MRPC next to the city of Rolla.

MRPC had presented a increase in membership dues with larger cities paying a larger share of membership. Sullivan would see an inrease from $3,200 a year to $4,650. Sullivan does not utilize many of the MRPC services as it has staff within the city to perform tasks such as engineering.
