The council held a rather lengthy discussion on the reopening of the systems and stated that “Open with Signage” means that signs will be posted stating that, “In accordance with the guidelines from the President and Center of Disease Control and Prevention, every person in the State of Missouri shall abide by social distancing requirements, including maintaining a six feet of space between individuals (family members excluded).”

The council then approved the following schedule: swimming pool open June 16; splash park open now with signage; Baseball/Softball fields, open for leagues and tournaments with social distancing and strict guidelines, non-reservations are open with signage; Playgrounds, bathrooms, pavilions, tennis court, skate park, basketball courts, are all open with signage; skating rink will remain closed until next season; community center, city hall gym, city hall business office will reopen June 16; golf course remains open with state order and Fireworks show is still planned for July 2.

Hardy stated that Eric Roberts, President of the Sullivan Soccer Association, was in attendance and reported that porta potties and hand cleaning stations will be in place for all practices and games for the season when practice starts in July.

This will cause a price increase for the parks system from $120 a month to $200, with the council having no objections.

Hardy reported that the fireworks agreement with J&M Display has been signed for July 2, with the city paying $5,000, Sullivan Bank providing a $2,500 donation and a reimbursement from J&M making up the difference from some issues from the 2019 show that resulted in compensation for this year’s event.
