Chief Counts Announces Retirement Set For September
Following a 46-year career in law enforcement, Sullivan Police Chief George R. “Randy” Counts recently announced that he would retire in September.
Counts has been at the helm of the accredited police department since April 13, 1981, and previously served as a Franklin County deputy sheriff.
He has worked under a number of administrations, saw the department grow from beneath Sullivan City Hall to its headquarters off Progress Dr. and continued to keep the department moving forward with technology/training.
Lt. Patrick Johnson has been appointed as his replacement.
