Charges Expected In Business Robbery Monday Evening

A 24-year-old Sullivan man, who has been recently arrested in a home invasion, was arrested late last week after he is alleged to have robbed a downtown Sullivan business Monday, November 18, at 6 p.m.

Sullivan Police were called to the Surprise Shop, 134 West Main, when an employee called 911 informing a dispatch officer that the business had just been robbed by a white male.

Officers responded to the business and found that a clerk was wrapping up the day’s activities when the male suspect came into the business looking to purchase some items. After presenting the clerk with his identification the clerk processed the individuals purchase at which time he reached for the cash drawer and a struggle ensued.

The clerk is alleged to have knocked off a beanie the suspect was wearing during the struggle over an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect fled the store where it was alleged that he jumped into a white truck wen fled the scene down Main Street to North Church Street.

Days later, Sullivan Police received a call of a suspicious person behind the Sullivan Regional Library, off Cumberland Way.

Officers picked up the individual who was the alleged suspect in the Surprise Shop robbery and was arrested weeks prior for a home invasion in which he allegedly entered a home while the residents were sleeping and appropriated a 65 inch television and other items before being arrested hours later.

Charges on the alleged suspect were not filed at press time.
