Bond Issue Passes; Sewald Wins Seat On Council, Graddy Retains

The Crawford County R-1 School District had its $2.3 million bond issue approved by voters Tuesday night, while Sonya Sewald defeated Mary Heywood in Ward 2 on the Bourbon City Council and Andrew Graddy retained a seat on the Bourbon School Board.

Mark Pfeiffer topped Kenny McGraw for an at-large seat on the Crawford County E911 Board.

Voters approved the bond issue 349-103, easily clearing the 4/7ths majority needed for approval. Nearly 77 percent of voters approved.

Sewald received 42 votes to Heywood’s 18 to become the new Ward 2 Alderwoman.

Andrew Graddy received 291 votes to Paul Sappington’s 149 for a one-year term on the Bourbon School Board.

Results are pending in Washington County.

In the village of Leasburg, four candidates were vying for three seats. 

Shirley Williams received 23 votes, Carolyn Prince had 20, Glenn Prince had 16 and Elizabeth Hale 15.

In the village of St. Cloud, five candidates were running for two seats.

Darrel Bosse received seven votes, Sean Flowers six votes and both Cliff Thexton and Jordan Thexton four votes.

Cheri Thexton received one vote.

In a race for a seat on the Sullivan Fire District Board, Jordan Tod received 46 votes, Robert Mesger 44 and Danny Banning 20.

Results are pending in Franklin County.

Washington County

In Washington County, Bourbon’s school bond issue passed 14-4.

Graddy received 9 votes to Sappington’s 7.

Mesger received 16 votes. Tod received 2 and Banning one.
