Board Places Satterfield On Administrative Leave

By a 3-0 vote, the Bourbon City Council voted on August 12 to place Police Chief Paul Satterfield on paid administrative leave.

Satterfield was expected to meet with the board on Thursday, but that meeting was postponed.

A closed session was scheduled for Tuesday following the regular monthly meeting.

Ward 2 Alderman Carl Hammack motioned to go into closed session at 7:20 p.m. and it lasted until 8:40 p.m.

Hammack also motioned to place Satterfield on administrative leave, with Ward 2 Alderwoman Mary Heywood and Ward 1 Alderman Dave Lafferty affirming.

The board has just three members right now following the July resignation of Thomas Jordan as Ward 1 Alderman.

Due to being a personnel issue, it is unclear what prompted the board to call the meeting or place Satterfield on leave.

Satterfield has served as Bourbon’s chief since January 1, 2017. He succeeded Rick Wise after being at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department for 16 years.

Satterfield had been a detective since 2005 when the city hired him.
