Blood Drive Set For Monday At Sullivan Community Center

The Missouri Baptist Hospital Auxiliary will hold its December Blood Drive on Monday, December 7, at the Sullivan Community Center.

According to Pat Blanton, Missouri Baptist Auxiliary, the goal for the event is 60 units of blood and this is a critical time for the Red Cross to meet the demands of those in need.

Donors of all blood types are urged to give now to keep the blood supply stable over the holidays, which is a time that donations tend to decline.

The need is always high this time of year, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Red Cross is testing blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies. As part of this effort, plasma from standard blood donations that test positive for COVID-19 antibodies may now help current coronavirus patients in need of convalescent plasma infusions.

By donating blood individuals can become a lifeline to patients in needs especially during the holidays, pandemic, emergencies within a community and other medical conditions.

The Red Cross urges family and friends to encourage each other to donate blood to help sustain the need and also qualify for their December 1-15 drive for a chance to win an Outdoor Living Experience, powered by propane, which prizes include a propane-powered pizza over, fired pit, outdoor heater and stipend for propane.

If you would like to donate for the Sullivan Blood Drive and get on the schedule you can do so by visiting the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
