BlankSpace Co-Working Begins Unique Concept To Sullivan

Two sisters are brining big city ideas to small town America with the recent launch of BlankSpace Co-Working, 59 North Clark Street, in downtown Sullivan.

Brooke Gaskill and Rachel Calvin opened the business location in late August with a number of professionals making use of the building.

The two write, in a description of what BlankSpace is on their Facebook page: “Founded in 2017 by sisters Brooke Gaskill and Rachael Calvin, BlankSpace Co-Working is a professional open gallery space that is a sanctuary for entrepreneurs, perfect for distraction-free environment.

We are where local writers, web developers, designers, journalists, students, artists, photographers, entrepreneurs and all kinds of independent workers can find a quiet place to get their work done.

Most of these individuals don’t need to deal with the overhead cost of a traditional office space, and local coffee houses tended to be filled with distractions.”

The business concept of professionals sharing office space has taken off for BlankSpace as currently six professionals are utilizing the business and there is room for additional professionals to join the 24 hour a day, seven days a week membership.

Professionals can use BlankSpace at their leisure with access through the facility available. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The business has caught the attention of many people who frequent the downtown Sullivan area and are simply curious as to what, “BlankSpace Co-Working,” does.

“We have had a lot of visitors and once people come in and see what this business is all about they often think what a great idea,” said Gaskill. “Our professionals that currently use BlankSpace also like the fact that Clark St. Cafe and Fricks Market are both within walking distance of the location in case they would need to get breakfast, lunch or dinner.”

BlankSpace offers daily, weekly and monthly rates to business professionals that vary from a $10 daily pass to $30 weekly pass and a $100 monthly rate.

“We have independent consultants that host their meetings here at BlankSpace where we have several work stations along with a conference room,” said Gaskill. “We have also made the building available for rentals for bridal showers and baby showers as well.”

BlankSpace has also recently hosted a ladies night out event in which several vendors participated by offering products to ladies in the community.

Additional events are being planned that will include a Paint and Sip event on Friday night, Sept. 29, and an Acoustic Night with Steven Wooley set for Oct. 6.
