Bartolotta’s Select Pre-Owned Center Under New Ownership
Bartolotta’s Select Pre-Owned Center is under new, but familiar, ownership. Danny and Dana Hawkins announced Friday, December 20, that they have purchased the Sullivan business that has operated for more than 20 years.
Former owner and founder Tom Bartolotta passed away from illness on November 1, 2019, at age 59. Bartolotta had operated the business at 834 South Service Road West for some 20 years and had constructed a new building in the location more than five years ago. Bartolotta had been in vehicle sales in the Sullivan area for more than 30 years prior to his passing, leaving a business legacy that will be continued by the Hawkins family.
According to Danny and Dana Hawkins, the purchase was a bittersweet moment for them. Danny had been employed with Bartolotta’s for more than 11 of his 24 years in the car sales business.
“This was Tom’s wishes for us to purchase the business and continue to operate it as he came to us when he was trying to determine what he was going do after he became ill,” said Danny Hawkins.
“We had so many mixed emotions not only through the entire process but even more so, we became owners on Friday,” said Dana Hawkins. “It’s just a bittersweet process considering the circumstances of our purchase of the business.”
The Hawkins family stated Saturday to the Sullivan Independent News that they are amazed and overwhelmed with the kind words and support from the residents of Sullivan and customers of the business.
“Words cannot describe the support we have received from so many,” said Danny Hawkins. “It’s been very overwhelming.”
The Hawkins stated that their goal is to continue Tom Bartolotta’s legacy with the dealership selling great used vehicles like they have for the last 20 years.
The business can be reached by calling 573-468-2277 and is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Hawkins concluded stating that they want to continue to welcome customers in the dealership and enjoy them sharing the many stores about the late Tom Bartolotta with them.
