33rd Annual Meramec Community Fair Just Week Away

The 33rd annual Meramec Community Fair, themed “Barnyard Mardi Gras,” is less than a week away with the fair kicking off Tuesday evening, June 18 with the parade though downtown Sullivan at 6 p.m. 

A rain date has been set for Wednesday, June 19.

On Wednesday, 4-H Archery competition will begin at 5:45 followed by Youth Horse Show in Saddle Club Arena at 6 p.m. and on the main stage Gospel Night will feature Emcee Duane Garren, along with Final Authority and The Hoppers, all at 7 p.m. with market steer weigh-in at 8 p.m. 

Wednesday night’s events are free on grounds events for the public to enjoy.

On Thursday, a full day or livestock programs being at 8 a.m. with the swine, market hog. market lamb and market goat weigh-in followed by several shows at 10:30 a.m. The main gates will open at 4 p.m. with carnival rides and concessions opening at 5 p.m.

The youth pageant will be on main stage at 5:30 p.m. and queen speech/talent night and evening gown program at 6:30. Truck and tractor pulling action will begin at 7 p.m. followed by pig scramble at 7 p.m. as well.

On the main stage at 8 p.m., the Contemporary Christian Night makes its move from Tuesday night to Thursday night with Jamie Kimmett and 7eventh Time Down on Mercy/Fidelity Main Stage.

Friday will bring several 4-H shows beginning at 8 a.m. with the main gate opening at 4 p.m. followed by antique tractor pull at 7 p.m. on the track with Bulls and Barrels Rodeo in the arena at 7 p.m. while Raelyn Winick will open the Mercy/Fidelity Main Stage at 7:30 p.m. followed by Uncle Kracker on the main stage.

Saturday will bring a full day of activity with carnival rides beginning at 11 a.m., followed by kiddie tractor pull and auction buyers luncheon on 12 p.m. The auction follows at 1 p.m.

The demo derby will begin at 6 p.m. with a large number of vehicles anticipated for the $7,000 purse. Bulls and Barrels Rodeo will be underway at the arena at 7 p.m. with the Mercy/Fidelity Main Stage featuring Alderwood at 8 p.m. and Montgomery Gentry at 9:15 p.m.

Season passes for the fair will remain on sale for $35. That covers everything on the grounds regarding entertainment, carnival rides, main stage shows, truck and tractor pulls, rodeos, demo derby and livestock shows.

Nightly one day admissions to the fairgrounds for Thursday are $15 with Friday and Saturday gates at $20 per person. Everyone five and older are required to purchase a fair ticket or pass for the fair with four and under being admitted free.
