“Share The Thrill” Second Annual Youth Deer Hunt Event

The second annual youth hunt, unofficial weigh-in, drawing giveaway and lunch will be held at Sullivan Orschlen Farm and Home, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28-29, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The event was organized and is being held again through the efforts of Sullivan resident William Parker, who kicked off the event in 2016 as an effort to bring young youth hunters together to share their hunting experience, enjoy free hot dogs, unofficially weigh their deer and register for drawing prizes.

“The first year we held this, I learned a lot and received a lot of help from a number of people,” said Parker. “The weather last year was very warm and I think it played a factor on our turnout. Overall though I was very pleased to see the young kids come out and enjoy visiting with other hunters and their family members.”

Parker stated that this event does not cost anyone a thing to participate and is really about promoting youth hunting and the friendships and bonds that are created through the outdoors.

“Orschlen's has been gracious enough to allow us to host this event in their parking lot once again and they have even donated a ground blind that will be given away through our drawings for the kids that participate in the event,” said Parker. “Parents, grandparents are encouraged to bring their young hunters by Saturday or Sunday and let the youth hunters weigh in their deer, enjoy some free food and register for some of the drawings. We’re very excited to once again host this event and see it grow.”

Parker emphasized that it doesn’t matter if its a buck or doe, big or small, it’s all about sharing the hunt with each other and again enjoying the outdoors.
