Girls Win Second Straight District Basketball Championship
Sullivan knocked off St. Clair 41-26 Friday to win the Class 4 DIstrict 6 girls basketball championship, the program's second straight title.
The Lady Eagles will play MICDS in sectionals Tuesday at Kirkwood at 6 p.m.
Sullivan (23-4) led just 6-4 after one quarter and 19-10 at the half against the second-seeded Lady Bulldogs, who overcame a 12-point halftime deficit Monday against Borgia. St. Clair cut Sullivan's lead down to five with 2:54 remaining in the third quarter. The Lady Eagles finished strong with a 6-1 run to open a 29-19 lead going into the final period. Sullivan built upon their lead at the foul line.
