Woman Charged With Burglary, Theft

Police arrested a Cuba woman July 24 after she allegedly broke into a home in the 400 block of Pine Street and stole five firearms, a leaf blower, hedge trimmers, a video game console and miscellaneous items.

Diana Wilder, 33, has been charged with second-degree burglary and felony theft. Her bond has been set at $35,000.

According to the probable cause statement, authorities found the items at Wilder’s apartment. Wilder allegedly admitted taking the items, but said they were located in a trash can outside the residence. Police said the items, which were in a box, were too big to fit in a trash can.

Wilder said she had been looking in the garage and brought another person to the residence to show them the location. She denied entering the residence, but said she gave someone else keys that had been tampered with in the garage.

Wilder said she came back and took the video game console, a box of various items and a double barrel shotgun. She said two other people took the other firearms to a residence on Davis Street.

Police went to the address Wilder gave, which was a condemned building. Two .22 rifles which matched the description of the ones stolen were seized as evidence.
