Voters Head To Polls Nov. 3

Voters head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 3 for the 2020 general election and Crawford County voters will decide a new commissioner, vote on a state representative and decide two amendments.

County

Only one county race is on the ballot.

District 2 Commissioner Jared Boast — a Republican — faces a challenge from Democratic candidate Richard Tarnowsky.

Boast is seeking a second term after being unopposed in the August primary.

All other county candidates are unopposed.

District 1 Commissioner Rob Cummings defeated Richard Martin in the August primary.

Assessor Kellie Vestal defeated challenger Tucker Herrell.

Darren Dake is unopposed after defeating Renee Ross in the Republican primary for coroner.

Public Administrator Franky Todd, Sheriff Darin Layman and Surveyor Mark Mueller are unopposed.

State

Gov. Mike Parson (R) is being challenged by Democratic State Auditor Nicole Galloway, Green Party candidate Jerome Bauer and Libertarian Rik Combs.

Parson succeeded former Gov. Eric Greitens, who resigned in May 2018.

Lt. Gov Mike Kehoe (R) is being challenged by Alissia Canady (D), Kelley Dragoo (G) and Bill Slantz (L).

Attorney General Eric Schmitt (R) is being challenged by Richard Finneran (D) and Kevin Babcock (L).

Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft (D) faces Yinka Faleti (D), Paul Venable (C), Paul Lehmann (G) and Carl Freese (L).

Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick (R) faces Vicki Englund (D), Joseph Civettini (G) and Nick Kasoff (L).

In the 120th District, Jason Chipman (R) is being challenged by Theresa Schmitt (D) in a rematch from 2018.

Amendment 1

Missourians are asked to weigh in on Amendment 1.

A “yes” vote supports the constitutional amendment to limit the lieutenant governor, secretary of state, auditor and attorney general to two terms. The governor and state treasurer are already limited to these terms.

A “no” vote would place no term limits on those positions.

Amendment 3

Voting “yes” for Amendment 3 supports eliminating the nonpartisan state demographer and using a bipartisan commission appointed by the governor for legislative redistricting; alter the criteria used to draw district maps; change the threshold of lobbyists’ gifts from $5 to $0 and lower the campaign contribution limit for state senate campaigns from $2,500 to $2,400.

A “no” vote would maintain the use of a nonpartisan demographer for redistricting; use the existing criteria for drawing districts and keep the existing campaign finance and lobbying limits.

Amendment 3 seeks to change provisions of Amendment 1, which was passed in 2018 with 62% of the vote.

Federal

President Donald Trump (R) is seeking a second term against Joe Biden (D).

Don Blankenship (C), Howie Hawkins (G) and Jo Jorgenson (L) also are on the ballot.

In Crawford County, Jason Smith (R) is seeking another two-year term as representative for Missouri’s 8th Congressional District.

He is opposed by Kathy Ellis (D) and Tom Schmitz (L).
