The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a Cuba woman had moderate injuries Sunday after her vehicle was struck by a train one mile west of Cuba.

According to the highway patrol, a 2017 Buick driven by Jessica Sanazaro, 44, was crossing the railroad tracks when an EMD Burlington Northern operated by Jerod Williams, 36, Springfield, struck her.

Sanazaro was not wearing a safety device and she was flown to Mercy Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle received extensive damage.
