Police Provide More Details On Tuesday Assault In Bourbon

Update: The Bourbon Police Department has released more information on an assault that took place Tuesday in Bourbon.

Police Chief Paul Satterfield said a female victim reported that a male suspect, dressed in full camo and carrying a black backpack, forced his way into her residence and assaulted her.

The suspect left a short time later. The area was canvassed by police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Officers from various agencies were in the area conducting a search for the suspect for several hours.

The victim was transported to the hospital and released.

If anyone matching this description is located, police urge you to call 911 immediately.

Satterfield advises against approaching the subject. If any suspicious activity is observed, notify local law enforcement.

Update: Bourbon Police Chief Paul Satterfield said Wednesday morning that authorities continue to be on the lookout for a suspect wanted in an assault that reportedly took place Tuesday.

Police said a reported sighting near Ditch Witch Tuesday night was not the suspect.

Satterfield said the suspect is described as 6-2 and wearing camo, but said they do not have any more details. 

The chief said the search continued throughout the night, with authorities combing the area. A Franklin County task force also is assisting in the search.

Update: Authorities are trying to locate a suspect described as 6-2, wearing camo and armed with a handgun. The suspect is wanted for an alleged assault in Bourbon on Tuesday.

The suspect broke into a home on Johnson Street and was able to escape after officers located him.

There is a heavy law enforcement presence around the Bourbon City Park area.

Law enforcement advised the Bourbon School District to keep students inside Tuesday after an incident near the elementary and middle school campuses.

The incident is not related to the school.

Superintendent Patricia Thompson said the district was advised by Bourbon Police Chief Paul Satterfield to take precaution and keep students indoors. The doors are always locked at all campuses. 

Thompson said the Crawford County Sheriff's Department is providing deputies at bus loading for additional security.

Law enforcement are patrolling the area near the campuses. The Independent News is still gathering information on the incident.
