Peregoy Hired As BHS Principal

The Bourbon School Board hired Matt Peregoy as high school principal at its March meeting.

Peregoy will come to Bourbon after a decade at Sullivan High School instructing industrial arts and coaching the wrestling team.

He replaces Scott Roberts, who has left the district for personal reasons. Superintendent Dr. Kyle Gibbs said Roberts left the position in mid-March.

“Matt brings a strong background across different disciplines,” Gibbs said. “He has been a core teacher, was involved in Project Lead The Way and has a proven record in motivating people.”

Gibbs said Peregoy is already setting goals and has held meetings with several people in the high school.

PLTW is a national effort to get students more interested in studying engineering and science-related fields.

“He’s very motivated for this move,” he said.

With Bourbon looking to grow its STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program, Gibbs said Peregoy, with his background in PLTW, could be instrumental in finding the right person for that position.

While Peregoy will be helping steer students in academics, he is coming to Bourbon following a highly-successful run as Sullivan’s wrestling coach.

Under his guidance, the Eagles won a Four Rivers Conference and district championship. They finished 10th in Class 2 this season.

The Independent News will feature Peregoy in a future issue.
