Murder Trial For Hunt Scheduled For July 2018
A Leasburg man accused of killing his neighbor over a property dispute has been scheduled for trial July 30, 2018.
Thomas F. Hunt, 69, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the fatal shooting of Arthur Wolverton, 66, Leasburg, Jan. 9 on Nixon School Road.
Hunt has pleaded not guilty to both counts. On July 24, he filed a request for a speedy trial, motion for bond reconsideration and a motion to request for a motion hearing.
The court has given Hunt until May 14, 2018 to take a guilty plea with a recommendation.
Hunt is being held on a $1,015,000 bond.
According to court documents, deputies were called to the 3700 block of Nixon School Road. Hunt allegedly advised that he had shot Wolverton behind his residence.
A civil case between Hunt and Wolverton had been ongoing since August 2016.
