Man Arrested For Drug Delivery, Assaulting LEO

The Franklin County Multi-County Narcotics and Violent Crime Enforcement Unit (MCNVCEU) arrested a Cuba man May 3 allegedly in possession of multiple bags of marijuana, methamphetamine and pills.

The suspect is also alleged to have resisted arrest and assaulted law enforcement.

Shayne Dawson, 42, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, resisting/interfering with arrest and third-degree assault on a special victim.

According to the probable cause statement, Dawson was observed driving a vehicle with a license plate that did not belong. Dawson, who is known to law enforcement as someone distributing drugs, was contacted at an apartment complex located in Crawford County.

Dawson became “highly agitated” and refused to produce any identification. While an officer attempting to open the vehicle door, Dawson allegedly grabbed his arm and pulled him into it, injuring the officer’s ribs and left arm.

Dawson was told he was under arrest, but resisted efforts by “kicking, shoving and punching” officers. After a lengthy fight, Dawson was handcuffed.

Authorities found several license plate tabs in Dawson’s wallet. Fourteen bags containing marijuana, six bags containing methamphetamine and five bags containing pills were recovered from the vehicle.

Dawson is on probation for possession of a controlled substance. He is being held on a $35,000 cash-only bond.

Dawson was arrested by the Bourbon Police Department for resisting arrest in April.
