Guinn Pleads Guilty In 2014 Rosati Murder

The Crawford County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office reached a plea deal Feb. 2 with Oryon Guinn, now convicted of murder in the April 2014 Rosati shooting death of Herman Ilges.

Dean Groh, who was staying at the residence, also was shot. He died from his injuries in June 2014.

Guinn, Craig Knock, Chelea Maxfield and Bebee Arenz all were charged.

Guinn originally was charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Guinn’s sentencing is set for Tuesday at the Crawford County Courthouse. He was sentenced to life in prison on the murder charge and 12 years for armed criminal action.

Guinn’s trial was set for April 4 in Dent County after receiving a change of venue in 2014.

Knock remains charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and first-degree assault. His trial was moved to Reynolds County and a trial setting is scheduled for March 6.

Arenz is charged with conspiracy to commit assault. According to the probable cause statement, she gave Guinn the weapon used to shoot Ilges.

A plea hearing is scheduled for May 21 in Dent County. If no deal is reached, Arenz will go to trial July 25.

Murder charges were dropped against Maxfield, who pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary Aug. 12, 2015.
