Cuba Teen Fatally Injured Tuesday
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a Cuba teen was fatally injured in an accident Tuesday on Highway DD, one mile north of Cuba.
According to the crash report, Colten Z. Santonge, 15, was air lifted to Mercy Hospital to St. Louis where he was pronounced dead just hours after the accident. He was reportedly not wearing a safety device.
The highway patrol reported that a 2001 Honda Civic driven by Brandon Santonge, 17, Cuba, swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle around 1:45 a.m. He lost control, traveled off the left side and overturned.
Brandon Santonge was wearing a safety device.
Another occupant, Dakota M. McMullin, 15, Cuba, was not wearing a safety device but had minor injuries. McMullin was transported to Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital for treatment.
