Crawford County Unemployment Falls to 4.2%

Crawford County’s unemployment fell another point for the second month in a row in April.

The Missouri Department of Labor reported a 4.2% rate compared to 5.3% in March.

That was a drop from 6.2% in February.

Crawford County had 134 initial unemployment claims in April, the lowest since October 2020 when 140 claimants filed for the first time.

The unemployment rate is at its lowest point since November when it stood at 4.1%.

The rate peaked at 9.5% in April 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic began unfolding.

It steadily dropped from there, but rose from October through December.

Adjacent Counties

Dent County declined from 4.1% to 3.6%.

Franklin County’s unemployment dropped to 3.5% and is at its lowest point since December 2019.

Gasconade County saw a fall from 4.1% to 3.2%.

Iron County’s rate slipped from 6.2% to 4.8%.

Phelps County dropped from 3.7% to 3.2%.

Washington County fell from 6% to 4.5%.

State

Missouri’s state unemployment rate was 4.1%.
