Crawford County Holds At Eight Cases

Crawford County did not report a case of COVID-19 last week, leaving the area with a total of eight.

County commissioners have not imposed any stricter measures than the state. The shelter in place order expired April 30 and the county is aligned with the state’s Show-Me Strong Recovery Plan.

Neighboring counties also have low totals.

In Washington County, there have been nine reported cases and one death. Phelps and Iron counties have reported two cases. To the south, Dent County has yet to have one case.

To the north, Gasconade County has two cases.

Franklin County has reported 128 cases.

It is unclear what the demographics are of Crawford County’s eight patients as the health department declined to make that information available.

Administrator Honor Evans told the Independent News in April that

The south central region is a hotspot for tourists during the summer and with Memorial Day around the corner, the potential for spread is a possibility.

As of Sunday at 2 p.m., there have been 9,884 cases across the state.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported an increase of 1,458 cases since Sunday, May 3.

There have been 482 deaths, up from 352 deaths on May 3.

DHSS said there was a delay in the number of deaths in Missouri’s tracking system, which now includes figures dating back a couple weeks.

The latest testing numbers were not updated Sunday, but through Saturday, 115,546 people had been tested in Missouri.

That is up from 91,083 who had been tested as of May 3.

Missouri has steadily been conducting more testing. More than 20,000 patients have been tested each of the last two weeks.
