County Sets GR Property Tax At Zero

A hearing Tuesday at the Crawford County Commission meeting set the general revenue property tax at zero, per the April election that increased sales tax.

The county will begin collecting the half-cent sales tax beginning Oct. 1. The tax commission will notify Crawford County businesses of the change, which runs through 2023.

While the county rolls back its portion of property taxes, other entities throughout the county will continue collecting.

The assessed valuation for Crawford County in 2018 is $308 million, up from $307 million in 2017. Crawford County had a decline of $1 million in valuation from 2016 to 2017.

Valuation in District 2 was significantly higher than District 1, with District 2’s assessed valuation $176 million compared to $146 million.
