Commissioners, Health Department Want Changes To Administrative Penalty

Crawford County commissioners and the Crawford County Health Department both want changes to the administrative penalty that currently sits at $50 for every day of a septic violation.

Crawford County Health Department Director Honor Evans called the penalty “exorbitant.” In just the last four months, the commission has considered a penalty of more than $14,000 and now $32,000.

The $14,000 penalty was levied against Tammy Irvin, but has since been waived. The $32,000 penalty is against Kimberly Kinder.
