Boast Addresses Board Over Mowing Mistake

Jared Boast addressed the Bourbon City Council on October 16 regarding the mowing that was missed the week of the Fall Festival.

The city of Bourbon sent a letter to Boast following that meeting in September. The contents weren’t revealed.

Ward 1 Alderman Dave Lafferty asked if the city had heard back from Boast. Mayor Danny Skaggs said he had “not heard a word” but that Boast Enterprises had shown up earlier that day to spread grass seed throughout the city hall property.

“He never sent a letter, called or came by,” Skaggs said, adding that the city should still revisit the two-year contract it signed last spring. Skaggs believes the city should “revise it in our favor to make sure things are done right.”

Minutes later, Boast entered the council room. He passed out his business card to each board member and apologized for what occurred. Boast encouraged the board to contact him personally if something wasn’t right.

“If there is ever a problem, issue or anything wrong, you can talk to my men; however, just call me,” he said.

Boast said sending out a letter “creates a delay” and he told Skaggs that he was available to him day or night.

“I am not saying I want a progress report every week. I do not expect you to police our work. All I am here to say is I am sorry,” he said. “It was not intentional. It has been an extenuating year, but that is not your problem.”

Nobody from Bourbon’s board told Boast of the apparent plan to revisit the contract or followed up on some of the complaints made at the September 18 meeting, which included criticism of subcontracting to Mighty Mow.
