Bill Seeks Voter Approval To Repeal Personal Property Taxes

A bill pre-filed by Sen. Bill Eigel (R-Weldon Spring) on December 1 seeks to prohibit the levying and collecting of personal property tax.

The bill — SJR5 — would have to be approved by the General Assembly and voted on by the people. 

Eigel’s bill has already met fierce opposition from the association of county assessors, which includes Crawford County Assessor Kelli Vestal.
