Japan 4-H News

By Ila Faye Stumpe

The  Japan 4-H club met at Strain-Japan School Wednesday evening, April 11.

The business meeting consisted of choosing a T-shirt pattern and color to wear at the Sullivan fair. Nancy Erxleben presented the choices to the children and people can also order shirts at the next meeting.

Project reports were given and Penny Wells explained the “Show Me Quality Assurance” and the need for the children to get that training before they were able to show livestock at the fair. Penny also announced dates and places the children could get this training.

Physical fitness was the activity for the month. Mrs. Wells asked the children if they knew what physical fitness was. She surprised the group when she mentioned physical fitness included getting enough rest, along with eating healthy and exercising. Children were then given “skeletal” and “cardio-vascular” worksheets. Children worked together as they discussed the words on the sheets.

The next meeting will beFocusing on community service, as we work on school beautification at Strain-Japan School. Penny will email the date and project at a later time.
