Unto Us A Savior Is Born

Dear Editor:

I was one of many shepherds who were watching our flocks of sheep near Bethlehem. There came this truly awesome event, an event like no other, an event that I will remember always.

While watching my flock of sheep along with the  other shepherds, suddenly an angel appeared in the beautiful star filled sky. I was so afraid as were the others. The angel told us not to be afraid. He said he was bringing us "good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” Then the angel announced, "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

And this will be a sign for you; you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger." After the announcement many angels appeared praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased." Then the angels went back to heaven.

We began talking about what we had just seen and heard. We were so amazed at seeing the angels that we had to go to Bethlehem to see this baby in the manger that we had been told about. We traveled as fast as we could and found Mary and Joseph and there was the baby Jesus lying in a manger, just as the angel had told us. We told about our experience and what the angel had said about this baby.  Those who listened to us were amazed at what we had seen and were told. After seeing Mary, Joseph and the newborn baby we all returned to our flocks of sheep honoring and praising God for everything we had seen and heard.

In 2018 we still rejoice in the birth of Jesus.
